Installation 

The Alrouf I-Series is a robust EX Proof LED Luminaire and the ultimate Industrial Hazardous Location Lighting solution, engineered for the most extreme and volatile industrial environments. This versatile fixture carries comprehensive global certifications, making it an ideal ATEX & UL844 Lighting Fixture, including UL844 Class I, Division 2 compliance.

Constructed as a lightweight yet heavy-duty Aircraft Aluminum EX Proof Fixture, it provides high-impact resistance while ensuring reliable performance across wide working temperatures, up to +60°C.

The luminaire is IP66-rated Corrosion Proof Lighting with UL 1598 and UL844 Marine Marking, designed to withstand high humidity, vapor, dust, and corrosive conditions. Key operational features include replaceable LED boards and drivers, dimmable functionality, and an emergency battery backup that provides up to 3 hours of illumination during power outages.

1. What are explosion-proof lights?
Explosion-proof lights are luminaires built to operate safely in areas with flammable gases, vapors, or combustible dust, where a spark or excess heat could trigger an explosion. The Alrouf I-Series is built for exactly this: a lightweight but heavy-duty aircraft-aluminum housing, high-quality SMT LEDs with a Meanwell driver, and an integrated junction box, rated to work from -40°C up to +60°C.

2. What makes a light explosion-proof?
An explosion-proof light needs a rugged, sealed enclosure that contains any internal spark and keeps out the surrounding hazardous atmosphere, along with components engineered to resist impact and extreme conditions. The I-Series delivers this through its high-impact-resistant aircraft-aluminum body, marine-rated powder-coated finish, replaceable LED board and driver, three sealed cable entry points, and a glass (or glass-with-polycarbonate) lens for wider beam coverage.

3. Where is explosion-proof lighting required?
It's required anywhere flammable materials, dust, or vapors are present. Per the I-Series applications, that covers the oil & gas industry (production, refining, loading, storage, LNG, mining), chemical plants and paint facilities, ocean/marine/aerospace operations, metal treatment (steel, aluminum, smelting, foundries, pumping stations), and food & alcohol production (flour, distilling) — plus any other high-humidity, high-dust, high-temperature, or vapor-heavy location.

4. Are LED lights considered explosion-proof?
Not by default — a standard LED fixture isn't rated for hazardous areas. It only becomes explosion-proof when built into a certified rugged housing designed to contain sparks and withstand the environment. The I-Series achieves this with its aircraft-aluminum, high-impact housing, replaceable LED boards and drivers, and an emergency battery backup (up to 3 hours) for safe operation during power loss.

5. Can a LED bulb blast, and what safety features prevent this?
A poorly protected LED fixture can fail or overheat in harsh conditions, which is why the I-Series is engineered with a heavy-duty, high-impact-resistant aluminum housing, an integrated junction box for the driver, dimmable operation, and up to a 5-year limited warranty — all designed to keep the fixture running safely across wattages from 20W to 120W and temperatures up to +60°C.
