Explosion Proof Socket for Hazardous Areas (Zone 1 & Zone 2)

An explosion proof socket is a flameproof electrical outlet designed to safely operate in hazardous environments where flammable gases, vapors, or combustible dust may be present.

Alrouf’s explosion proof sockets are engineered with Ex-d flameproof protection, heavy-duty LM6 die-cast aluminum housing, and dual earthing systems to ensure maximum safety and durability in industrial applications. These sockets support voltage ranges from 110V to 690V AC and are suitable for Zone 1, Zone 2, Zone 21, and Zone 22 classified areas.

They are widely used to provide safe and reliable power connections for industrial equipment in oil & gas, petrochemical, and energy facilities.

Explosion Proof Plug and Socket – Key Features

Our explosion proof plugs and sockets are designed to provide maximum electrical safety in explosive environments.

Fire and Ignition Protection

Explosion proof sockets prevent sparks, arcs, or hot surfaces from igniting flammable gases or dust in hazardous locations.

Heavy Duty Aluminum Housing

The socket enclosure is manufactured using LM6 die-cast aluminum alloy, providing strong mechanical protection and resistance to corrosion.

Dual Earthing System

Each explosion proof socket includes internal and external earthing terminals for improved electrical safety and grounding reliability.

Secure ON/OFF Separation Mechanism

A visible ON/OFF control system ensures safe connection and disconnection of plugs in hazardous areas.

High Electrical Ratings

Explosion proof sockets support industrial power loads including:

  • 16A / 240V AC
  • 20A / 240V AC
  • 32A / 415V AC

ensuring compatibility with various industrial electrical systems.

Long Service Life

Neoprene sealing gaskets and stainless steel external hardware protect the socket against corrosion, moisture, and harsh environmental conditions.

Explosion Proof Industrial Socket Applications

Explosion proof industrial sockets are used in facilities where electrical sparks could cause explosions.

Oil & Gas Industry

  • Refineries
  • Gas compressor stations
  • LNG plants
  • Offshore drilling rigs

Petrochemical & Chemical Plants

Explosion proof outlets provide safe power connections in processing units and storage facilities.

Energy & Infrastructure

  • Pipeline stations
  • Power generation facilities
  • Industrial plants

Industrial Equipment Power Supply

Explosion proof plug and socket systems power equipment such as:

  • compressors
  • pumps
  • heating systems
  • air conditioning units
  • converters
  • engines

These industrial outlets ensure safe operation even in corrosive atmospheres.

Explosion Proof Plug and Socket Accessories

Our explosion proof socket systems support several accessories including:

  • brass cable glands
  • stainless steel glands
  • plastic glands

What is an explosion proof socket?

An explosion proof socket is a specially designed electrical outlet that prevents sparks or arcs from igniting explosive gases or dust in hazardous environments.

Where are explosion proof sockets used?

Explosion proof sockets are used in hazardous areas such as oil refineries, chemical plants, offshore rigs, gas compressor stations, and petrochemical facilities.

What is the difference between flameproof and explosion proof sockets?

Both terms describe protective electrical enclosures designed to prevent explosions. Flameproof equipment contains internal explosions and prevents them from igniting external atmospheres.

What voltage do explosion proof sockets support?

Explosion proof sockets typically support voltages from 110V to 690V AC, depending on the configuration and industrial requirements.
