What are explosion-proof lights?

Explosion-proof lights are fixtures specifically engineered and certified so they cannot ignite flammable gases, vapors, or combustible dust in the surrounding air. The B-Series is certified to ATEX (112 G Ex mb eb IIC T4 Gb), IECEx (Ex mb eb IIC T4 Gb), and UL844 (Class I Division 2, Groups A-D; Class II Division 1, Groups E-G) standards, with an IP66-rated sealed aluminum housing and tempered glass lens.

Where is explosion-proof lighting required?

Explosion-proof lighting is required anywhere flammable gases, vapors, or combustible dust may be present — including oil and gas production, refining, loading and storage facilities, LNG plants, chemical production and storage sites, paint facilities, mining operations, metal smelting and foundries, offshore and marine platforms, aerospace clean rooms, military facilities, flour and food/alcohol production plants, and power generation stations. As a general rule, any area with high humidity, high dust, high vapor, or high temperature where a flammable atmosphere could form needs this protection.

What type of lights are best for a high bay shop?

For hazardous industrial shops such as refineries, chemical plants, or mills, a certified explosion-proof LED high bay is the right choice — not a standard LED high bay. The B-Series is available in four housing sizes covering 20W to 400W, so the shop's size and ceiling height determine the right model. Lumen output scales with wattage: 20W → 2,800 lm, 40W → 5,600 lm, 60W → 8,400 lm, 100W → 14,000 lm, 150W → 21,000 lm, 200W → 28,000 lm, 300W → 42,000 lm, 400W → 56,000 lm. This works out to roughly 140 lm/W efficacy, with 80 CRI and a color temperature range from 2200K to 7000K.
